CUSTOM REGULATIONS

Cuba's customs legislation prohibits the introduction of pornography, narcotics and similar drugs, live animals and firearms, although the latter may be authorized in the case of hunting guns, by the agency dealing with this form of tourism.

CURRENCY AND METHODS OF PAYMENT

All payments at hard-currency establishments must be in convertible pesos (CUCs), which can be obtained in exchange for the following currencies (among others): euro, Canadian dollar, pound sterling, Swiss franc, US dollar. The rates of exchange in the international market are taken into account in fixing the rates of exchange for the CUC.

In the case of the US dollar, a surcharge of 10% is imposed to protect the country's economic interests. (More information)
